On Friday, February 7th, the highly anticipated RCM Unity Gala took place at Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta. RCM, also known as the Roswell Community Masjid, took their annual gala to the next level this year by hosting 50% more guests than previous galas. The event proved to be entertaining and enjoyable for people of all ages and interests, and hosted an extraordinary lineup of speakers and presenters including Sheikh Omar Suleiman, Sheikh Yaser Birjas, Baba Ali, and Ustadha Fatima Lette

Leading up to the gala, RCM Executive Director, Maher Budeir stated, “This Gala will be fundraised in order to celebrate something that will be very exciting,” hinting at the upcoming, large scale project that was unveiled at the event. If you didn’t have the opportunity to make it to the sold-out event, here’s a quick rundown of RCM’s Vision99:

- The RCM community has grown rapidly over the past few years, they’ve found that they often have more people to serve than they have space for, leading them to search for a new property that would accommodate and help establish a Muslim community in the area for generations to come.
- With the help of the community, they are working to purchase an 18-acre property about a mile-and-a-half from the original mosque to serve as their “next home”.
- They have put a contract on the land and they plan to finance and secure the property, and then begin construction as soon as possible. The project, as a whole, costs about $9M.
- They hope to have the space available for use within the next two years. The 2020 goal, in regards to fundraising, is $1.2M, over $600k of which has already raised through pledges from the gala.
From the community, they ask they make Du’a (prayers), make a donation, and ask others to do the same.
