Every year around the first week of March, Atlanta Community Food Bank has its annual Hunger Walk/Run Fundraiser. This year, as in years past, the Islamic Speakers Bureau was the umbrella organization for Metro Atlanta Mosques and Organizations to consolidate their efforts and present one united front.

As in years past, when Madina Institute and Atlanta Muslims Running Club/Muslimahs Endure won for registering the most individuals for the ACFB Hunger/Walk Run, the competition this year in 2017 was fierce, but the Gwinnett Islamic Circle raced ahead of all others to take home the trophy for the most registered participants!

Not only is this a worthy cause, but it has been an inspiration and call to action for so many of us who typically are not involved within our local communities. The good natured competition between our local Muslim organizations adds to the spirit.

Alhamdulillah, this year we had 22 teams, 622 registered participants, and raised $19,641 to help combat Hunger in the Atlanta area…that equates to ALMOST 80,000 MEALS!

We at GIC thank everyone who participated and look forward to growing our registrants and winning the trophy again next year!
