Now that Georgia's "guns everywhere" bill has been passed by the house and awaiting the Governor's signature, it would be up to the masjid leaders to allow or restrict guns in masjids. It may be necessary for masjids in Georgia to post signs that explicitly prohibit weapons in the area. Imam Nadim Ali from the West End Community Masjid weighed in on how this effects the mosques.
The GA House and Senate passed HB60 by 112 to 58 that would allow weapons in most public places. It was passed with an amendment prohibiting weapons from being carried in churches or places of worship unless the church or place of worship approves license holders to carry weapons inside. The clergy that spoke against the bill at the Capitol did not want to post any signs or get involved. Imam Nadim Ali spoke to Jeanne Bonner from GPB about how they are handling this issue as responsible gun advocates as covered in this article.
