Each year, the Muslim Students Associations in the US host an Islamic Awareness Month events across campus. Usually held in March, these events typically include movie screenings, speakers, campus prayers services, and more. Georgia Institute of Technology's Kinza Shekhani (Muslim Students Association president), Hala El-Shaffey and other Members of the Georgia Tech MSA, hosted an event called "Unveiling the Veil", where women of different backgrounds and religious belief learned about the concept of hijab, the many misconceptions, and its purpose. This event also coincided with International Women's Day.

The positive experiences of those who tried out the headscarf is detailed at Georgia Tech's press release.
