For three days, a student lead team, 'The Team', consisting of some Fulton Science Academy High School students and a few homeschoolers, participated in a competition called MIST (Muslim Interscholastic Tournament). MIST is a fun, educational, interactive program of competitions and workshops geared towards bringing high school students together from around the nation to develop leadership, communication, and other creative skills, all while gaining a deeper understanding of Islam and Muslims. MIST is directed toward all high school students regardless of their faith or Islamic knowledge.

This year, the Atlanta Regional competition, took place at Georgia State University from April 12th to April 14th. Teams came from as far as Tennessee and South Carolina. The team participated in a wide variety of competitions from Improv to Graphic Design to Basketball. When the participants were not in competitions, they were listening to lectures and workshops. Both the competitions and the workshops concentrate on the year's theme, which was The Patience of Champions: Rising to a Better Self.

The team did an amazing job by coming in first place as overall team. They won more awards than any other team there. Special congratulations to Maryam Raad, a senior at FSAHS, for getting third place in overall individual and a special thanks to Misbah Shakoor for coaching the team. The team will be competing in MIST Nationals this upcoming July in Detroit, MI.

The team consisted of: Abdallah Hajaj, Abdul Bingahlan, Abdullah Budeir, Ali Rokarya, Amanda Mousselli, A yesha Iqbal, Azka Iqbal, Fatih Kececi, Humza Shakoor, Ibraheem Budeir, Jenna Raad, Mae Eldahshoury, Maryam Jaleel, Maryam Raad, Mohamed Eldahshoury, Mohammed Bingahlan, Sandra Alhabbal, Sarah Ghalayini, Sarah Wade, Sawsan Selim, Shifa Khan and Tanya Panwala.

Note: The Teams Participation in the event is not supported nor sponsored by Fulton Science Academy High School (FSA High School) and the Team does not represent FSA High School.
