Atlanta's Shifa Clinic Provides Over $700K in Services

ICNA Relief's Shifa Clinic has provided over $700,000 worth of services to patients in 2013, a $300,000 increase from the previous year. The doctors at that clinic see around 250 patients for free every month. The clinic offers free electrocardiograms (EKG) and ultrasound scans and provides a 75% discount for lab tests through their partnership with Quest Diagnostics. Shifa Clinic is a part of the Georgia Volunteer Healthcare Program.

ICNA Relief USA established Shifa clinic in 2005 to increase and promote access to free quality health care for the uninsured. The clinic is open every Saturday between 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and is located in the Islamic center in Duluth.

Shifa Clinic has 28 physicians including a cardiologist and radiologist working on a volunteer basis as well as over a 100 volunteers and interns.

"It's a wonderful feeling to know you are really helping to make a difference for those without health insurance," said Dr. Muhammad Usman, a volunteer at the Clinic.
