Event Description

After the community voiced concerns with Masjid Omar bin Abdul Aziz's management and their handling of various issues, a mediation team was formed to work with the leadership of Al-Farooq on addressing issues and forging a path forward.

Here's a history of what the mediation team did: https://www.atlmuslimvoice.com/

Long story short: after two well attended town hall meetings with hundreds of community members present and including the presiding Al-Farooq leadership, where it was presented that legal counsels had determined that Al-Farooq had violated its own by-laws and did not have a legitimate board of trustees, an election was held to elect 4 community members and a compromise was reached for them to join 3 senior Al-Farooq leaders as the new Board of Trustees.

Unfortunately, three others have recently posted the following message on Al-Farooq's website, in which they claim that they are life-long owners of the masjid and reject any efforts at reconciling with the community and addressing our concerns:

We want to know what's going on, why the trust of the community has been betrayed, and what the path forward looks like.
