Event Description

American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP-Atlanta), CAIR Georgia and other organizations have teamed up with the Red Cross to host a public blood drive on July 14th at Atlanta's Dar-un-Noor Academy in solidarity with all victims of unjust violence around the world.

Blood donors should register online beforehand at redcrossblood.org using the code: dar-un-noor. Participants can also check their eligibility to donate blood by calling the Red Cross hotline at 1-866-236-3276.

"Atlanta hospitals face an urgent and significant shortage of blood supplies," said CAIR-GA Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell. "We encourage Atlanta residents to donate blood in solidaritywith all victims of unjust violence around the world, from Baton Rouge and Dallas to Orlando and Aleppo."

The public blood drive, which has been planned since the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, is scheduled to occur between 2 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, July 14th, at Dar-un-Noor Academy, a private school located behind Al-Farooq Masjid on 14th Street in Atlanta.

Sponsoring organizations include American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP-Atlanta), CAIR-GA, AtlantaMuslim.com, the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta, The Baig Firm and the Georgia Muslim Voter Project, which plans to host a voter registration table during the blood drive.

Any organization wishing to join as a co-sponsor can email info@ga.cair.com.
