Class: Arabic Course for Beginner & Intermediate Students

When: Beginner Students: Every other Monday 7:00pm - 9:00pm, starting Monday, March 31st; Every Saturday, 10:00am - 11:30am Intermediate Students: Every other Monday 7:00pm - 9:00pm, starting Monday, April 7th; Every Saturday 11:30am - 1:00pm

Course Blurb: Madina Institute is pleased to present a new weekly Arabic course for those ready to push their knowledge of this vast language to the next level! The course will have two unique levels, a Beginner & Intermediate level which will meet every other Monday and every Saturday starting Monday, March 31st. The course will be text-based and will focus on the 4 aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. This will be a very fun, and interactive class taught by our very own Sheikh Muhammad Mendes and Assistant Faculty. The Beginner level students will learn the alphabet and letters, but will also be surprised by how quickly they will learn to read, speak, listen and write. The text used will be the Graded Steps in Quranic Reading as well as Easy Steps in Arabic Handwriting by Abuld Wahid Hamid and published by MELS (Muslim Education & Literary Services). The Intermediate level students will use the text, Al-Arabiya bayn Yadayk (Arabic Between your Hands) to further advance their understanding of the Arabic language.

Instructor Bio: The course is taught by Sheikh Muhammad Mendes, who holds a BA in Arabic, accompanied with studies in Syria, Mauritania, Nigeria and other parts of West Africa. Sheikh Mendes has been a student and teacher of Arabic for the past 15 years and brings with him a unique and motivating-style of instruction. He was born in the United States and spent some of his youth Nigeria. At the age of 17, he embraced Islam after a life changing journey to Israel. While in college pursuing a BA in Arabic, he began studying the sciences of Islam with scholars from various countries around the United States. Upon graduation, he traveled to the Middle East and West Africa to sit at the feet of a number of notable scholars who further acquainted him with the major Islamic sciences of Koranic Recitation, Prophetic Narrations, Arabic, Theology, Jurisprudence, and Purification of the Soul. He is currently a highly sought after teacher and public speaker, with students across North America. His expertise lies in the sciences of tasawwuf, Islamic heritage in West Africa and North America, and Maliki Fiqh.

Registration: $150 for the Full Course or 3 payments of $50 over the 3 months of the course.
