Atlanta Lawyer Calls to End Force Feeding Hunger-Striking Palestinians

Picture this. One day you’re sitting in the comfort of your living room, surrounded by your loved ones, and everything seems perfect. Almost! The next thing you know, you’re forced out your house, surrounded by total strangers, and taken to a prison! Days go by, and you have so many questions, yet no answers. Why am I here? Can I see my family? How long do I have stay here? All met with no response. What would you do?

Mohammed al-Qeeq, a Palestinian journalist, is one of the many Palestinians who have been detained by Israel without trial. He has been protesting his arrest through a hunger strike since Nov. 25, 2015. Although detainees like al-Qeeq are protesting for justice and answers, they are met with further injustice and inhumane actions, such as force-feeding.

Azadeh Shahshahani, a human rights attorney based in Atlanta and a past president of the National Lawyers Guild, was one of the authors that : wrote about this issue on Al-Jazeera America.
