This Veterans Day, we’d like to honor the men & women who have served our country. Oftentimes, it is overlooked that our Muslim brothers and sisters are fighting alongside these brave soldiers. Below is a list of a handful of Muslim Veterans who are now Atlanta locals.

Qaadirah Abdur-Rahim

Qaadirah Abdur-Rahim

Air Force, 349th Mortuary Affairs Services Unit

Service:
Providing services for soldiers, and processing remains of fallen soldiers

Abdur-Rahim was called to Delaware after 9/11 to help process remains from the Pentagon Crash. She worked alongside her fellow non-combat servicemen and women during of the Nation’s most crucial times.

“You have to show and have people understand that Islam is also a religion of peace and that there are Muslims that are dedicated to that peace.”

1976-1977 George AFB, Victorville, Ca. In the 21st TFTS Tactical Fighter Training Squadron. 4F fighter squadron.
1977-1979 Bitburg Air Base, Bitburg, Germany. 22nd TFS Tactical Fighter Squadron. F15 fighter squadron.
1979-1980 Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

"My time in the military allowed me the opportunity to travel to many countries. I met many people from different cultures. It made me who I am today. Allah allowed me to see the world and the people in it as one. Then he opened my eyes and Heart to Islam."


Adam Donaldson

Donaldson served multiple military intelligence units would occasionally work alongside special forces units.


Myles McDonald

Myles McDonald

Third Class Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsman; land navigation, weapons and field training

McDonald previously worked at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA where he did a rotation in Emergency Medicine.
