Gas prices are too high. We've got some of the worst traffic in the nation. And that overheated car of yours just isn't making it better. For those of you who need to get around metro Atlanta, a cost-effective, faster way to get you around town is the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, or Marta.

As a daily Marta passenger for four straight years, I can definitely count on the train to get me around the city in less time than a car would. My rides on Marta have always been pleasant, comfortable and cool. The trains feel safe and clean, and I always catch people like me trying to get to work or school. Figure out your exact commute and how Marta can get you there via marta.com or download the mobile app to gain access to updated train schedules.

If you're in grad school, you can contact your school for discounted monthly passes, granting you unlimited Marta train and bus rides each month. Shopping is a breeze with Marta. Various Marta stations and bus routes take you to popular shopping areas such as Perimeter Mall, Lenox Mall, Phipps Plaza,Town Brookhaven, Colony Square, Little Five Points and Atlantic Station. For all you sports fans, Marta will directly take you to Turner Field for a Braves game, Phillips Arena to see the Atlanta Hawks, or watch the Falcons at the Georgia Dome. Like I always say, you haven't experienced Atlanta unless you've ridden Marta!
