ISB's Soumaya Khalifa Receives Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award

Executive Director of the Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB) Soumaya Khalifa was named 'Outstanding Georgia Citizen' on July 8. Khalifa was presented with the award in a private ceremony by Georgia Minority Floor Leader, the Honorable Stacey Abrams, and Georgia Representative Pedro Marin.

Khalifa was recognized for her efforts in promoting religious understanding. Khalifa, who founded the ISB – a non-profit organization that educates Americans of all faith traditions about Muslims and Islam- in 2001 is also the President of Khalfia Consulting – an intercultural consulting firm that provides clients with a better understanding of inter-cultural relations, particularly with Arab and Muslim cultures.

The award, signed by Secretary of State of the State of Georgia Brian P. Kemp, stated:

"May this Outstanding Citizen be afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in her travels to other states, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever she may hereafter travel or reside. Thank you for your service to our State."

Ghada Elnajjar is a full time mom who also serves as the Communications Manager for the Islamic Speakers Bureau including writing and editing the ISB Atlanta News, the organization's monthly publication.
